HOUSTON, TX / ACCESS Newswire / November 2, 2026 / Ramos Law Group, PLLC today announced the launch of its Child Welfare practice, dedicated to representing parents, grandparents and relatives involved in Child Protective Services (CPS) investigations and cases brought by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

The practice is led by Bobbie Young, R.N., J.D., who is Board Certified in Child Welfare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mrs. Young joins Ramos Law Group along with her team, and the firm will continue representing her current clients.

Child welfare law is one of the most underserved areas of legal practice in Texas. A CPS case can move quickly, and decisions made in the first days, often before a parent has spoken with a lawyer, can shape the outcome for months or years. Many families face an investigation, a removal or a service plan without understanding their rights or what is being asked of them. Ramos Law Group created this practice, so those families have experienced, board certified counsel to guide them from the start.

Mrs. Young brings a rare combination of legal and medical training. Her background as a registered nurse allows her to review medical records, injury findings and medical neglect allegations with a clinical eye, an advantage in cases that turn on medical evidence. In addition to child welfare matters, she will handle divorce and family law cases at the firm.

Why We Built This Practice

For Ramos Law Group, the decision is personal.

"This practice area is personal," said Mary E. Ramos, owner of Ramos Law Group and Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. "Our own family has been through the child welfare process as relatives, and even after decades of experience in family law, we learned how hard it is to navigate. If it can happen to us, it can happen to any family. Bringing Mrs. Young and her team into our firm means parents, grandparents and relatives have a board-certified advocate to guide them, make sure their voices are heard, and help keep families together whenever it is safe to do so."

"When CPS contacts a family, parents are often asked to make serious decisions within hours," said Bobbie Young, R.N., J.D. "My job is to make sure they understand their rights and options, and that they have a strong voice in every decision about their children. I'm proud to do that work with the resources of Ramos Law Group behind us."

What the Practice Handles

The Child Welfare practice represents parents, grandparents and other relatives across the Greater Houston area in:

  • CPS investigations and safety plans
  • Removal hearings and emergency custody proceedings
