CALIFORNIA - June 20, 2026 - Moe's Group, a U.S.-based private label and custom-formulation manufacturer of skincare, bodycare, and haircare products, today announced it has produced more than 5 million units of beef tallow skincare products and will keep tallow pricing steady for brand partners despite rising tallow raw material costs. The company renders premium, suet derived beef tallow into balms, whipped creams, moisturizers, and other finished skincare products for brands across the United States. Moe’s Group said the pricing decision is designed to help protect clients from the raw material volatility that has affected the animal fats market over the past two years. Moe's Group produces more than 1 million units per month across all categories from its cGMP-compliant facility in California.
Tallow — the rendered beef fat at the base of the company's product line —has become an increasingly contested low-carbon feedstock in the United States. Demand from renewable diesel producers has surged as U.S. renewable diesel capacity grew sharply between 2020 and 2024, pulling larger volumes of animal fats into fuel production and increasing competition with food, cosmetics, and oleochemical buyers that depend on related rendered fat inputs. That competition has pushed rendered animal-fat prices sharply higher. Choice inedible white grease, a related rendered animal-fat benchmark, reached roughly $51 per hundredweight in April 2025, compared with about $39 per hundredweight in April 2024, an increase of approximately 30%. Bleachable inedible tallow prices have shown similar year-over-year gains. Moe’s Group said the beef tallow it sources has increased more than 25% from some suppliers over the same period. At the same time, the U.S. cattle herd remains at its lowest level since 1951, further tightening the supply of the suet and trim used to render premium beef tallow.
The pressure is set to intensify. In its finalized Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2026 and 2027 — the highest levels in the program's history, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency set total applicable renewable fuel volumes of 26.81 billion RINs for 2026 and 27.02 billion RINs for 2027. EPA said meeting those 2026 and 2027 volume levels will require biodiesel and renewable diesel production and use to increase by more than 60% compared with 2025 levels. That increase is expected to strengthen demand for low-carbon feedstocks, including the fats and oils used in renewable fuel production. Market analysts have already pointed to growing competition for tallow, used cooking oil, and other animal-fat feedstocks as renewable diesel and biodiesel producers compete with food, cosmetics, and oleochemical buyers for the same raw materials. For tallow skincare brands, that means continued pressure on raw-material costs, pressure Moe’s Group says it intends to absorb rather than pass on to its brand partners.
The supply squeeze comes as consumer interest in tallow based skincare continues to grow. According to industry research, the global tallow balm market is projected to grow from roughly $280 million in 2025 to about $460 million by 2034, while personal care and cosmetics are expected to be among the stronger growth applications for tallow. That momentum is being driven by clean beauty, ancestral skincare, and natural ingredient movements that favor simple, minimally processed formulations. Moe’s Group said the trend has increased demand for suet derived beef tallow products, including balms, whipped creams, and moisturizers, at the same time raw material costs are rising.
“Even with tallow, costs from some suppliers up more than 25%, we made a deliberate decision to hold our pricing rather than pass that volatility on to our brand partners,” said Moe, CEO of Moe's Group. “We have spent years building what we believe is the most trusted beef tallow skincare manufacturing operation in the country. Our partners depend on us for consistent pricing, consistent quality, and the same premium, suet-derived tallow their customers expect. We are holding the line because their growth depends on stability, and we are committed to helping them keep their customers coming back.”
Brands interested in private label production can request formulations, samples, and current pricing through Moe's Group's beef tallow skincare manufacturing services.
